The Construction (Design and Management) regulations 2015 require all duty holders to assess the organisational capability of contractors.
Duty holders are not just limited to client, designers, and Principal Contractors. Contractors working directly for Principal Contractors who sub-sub works are also duty holders and have the same duty to assess the organisational capability.
Gaining a SSIP PQS Health & Safety Assessment is one way of demonstrating your organisational capability. SSIP is supported by the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) and acts as an umbrella organisation to facilitate and maximise mutual or cross-recognition of health and safety assessments between SSIP member schemes, wherever practicable to do so.
